Indian archer Dhiraj Bommadevara emerged as the hero for India at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Antalya, Turkey, clinching two impressive bronze medals on the final day. Bommadevara’s first bronze came in the mixed recurve team event, partnering with Bhajan Kaur. The duo displayed great composure, overcoming a slow start to defeat the Mexican pair of Alejandra Valencia and Matias Flores in a thrilling encounter.
Dhiraj wasn’t done there. He continued his fine form, battling his way to a podium finish in the men’s recurve individual event as well. In a nail-biting bronze medal match, he defeated archery legend Mauro Nespoli of Italy to secure India’s fourth medal at the Antalya leg of the World Cup. While Ankita Bhakat fell short of a medal in both the women’s recurve semi-final and bronze medal match, Dhiraj Bommadevara’s stellar performance ensured India ended the tournament on a high note. This impressive showing serves as a confidence booster for the Indian archery team as they gear up for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
